Kindergarten Rodeo 2012 ~ Part 1

All of the Kindergartners at Thomas's school participated in a rodeo on Friday. It was a huge production and the kids had a blast! The spent the weeks before the rodeo learning about all things western, cowboy, etc. This is a picture of Thomas's "WANTED" poster:

Cracks me up that he's "WANTED" for playing on the computer! Lined up with his horse and ready to go outside for the rodeo parade.

The rodeo began with the National Anthem ~

The "Gun Slinging" station consisted of shooting water guns at a bulls eye. Thomas "missed" once or twice and got mom wet, but I didn't mind!

Coloring his bull picture ~
The kids got to brand a block of wood ~ This is Thomas's finished product.
Time for a break ~ Cactus Juice (aka yellow Gatorade) and Trail Mix.

Next was the Ropin' station. Dad took the morning off of work to help with the rodeo. He was in charge of that station and did a great job helping over 100 Kindergartners try to rope a hay bale steer!
Love these two cowboys!

Kindergarten Rodeo 2012 ~ Part 2

After roping the steer it was time to have hay bale wagon races. It's not as easy as it looks!

Next it was time for horse races. Thomas and his horse did a great job!
Finally it was time for the bull riding competition. Mr. Snyder warned the kids about the wild bulls Cyclone, Tornado and Dynamite. The kids were so excited and held on for dear life so the bulls wouldn't buck them off!
Pretty calm start...............
Coming back after one trip around the cones ~
Headed down for the second round ~
Riding home! I love the look on his face ~ he was completely "into" the whole bull riding!
Thomas and Mom
Thomas and his teacher Mrs. Stewart ~ we love her!
Mrs. Stewart's Kindergarten class 2011-2012

Some of the girls that were standing behind Mrs. Stewart were messing with her hair and being silly. Thomas thought it was so funny ~ and it actually was!

Time to end the rodeo with a picnic lunch!

Visit with The Skinners

We were in Dallas for the weekend and were fortunate enough to get to have lunch with some of our favorite people ~ Graham, Britt, and Ben Skinner. Their sweet mom Amy was there, too, but we didn't get a picture of her! Next time we will, though!

St. Patrick's Day 2012

Traditional St. Patrick's Day pictures with the boys wearing their silly shamrock antenna. Carl wanted to get in the last photo, but he wasn't wearing green. The boys didn't even try to pinch him!

Early Easter

While we were in Hereford for spring break Grandmother bought the boys some confetti eggs to hide, hunt and break. They had so much fun with them!

The hunting part was pretty harmless.................

And then the breaking part began! Neither of the boys was hesitant to break it on each other's heads! Grandmother was a good sport and actually volunteered to have eggs cracked on her head.
Granddaddy wasn't sure he wanted to "play" or not!
But he took a seat and Thomas dumped all of the "grass" out of his basket onto Granddaddy's head.
Will explained to Granddaddy that there really was no escape from the confetti eggs, so...........
He bent down and got a head full of confetti!
And threw all of the extras right back at Will!
